Advisers Dianne Casolaro (dcasolaro@bcbe.org) and Angela Shaw (ashaw@bcbe.org)

Unveiled over a century ago, the National Honor Society enshrines four pillars at its heart: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. More than mere badges of honor for NHS members, these principles are transformative keys that unlock potential, enhancing every student’s educational journey, and ultimately empowering them to make profound, enduring contributions to our world."

Membership requirements

  • Sophomores and juniors (school year 25-26) must have at least a 3.5 unweighted GPA, exhibit exemplary character, and meet other application requirements to be considered for membership.

  • Applications generally open in February each year.

  • At its September 2025 meeting, the Daphne High Chapter of NHS approved new GPA requirements for current freshmen to be considered for membership.   Beginning in January 2027,  students must have a minimum 3.65 unweighted GPA to be considered for membership. Those selected for membership would then maintain a 3.65, unweighted,  throughout their membership in NHS.  (Current sophomores who may apply after January 2027 as juniors will be “grandfathered in” under the previous bylaw requirements of 3.5 unweighted.)
